That time I decided to build in public...

I hate marketing.

Or rather, I guess I should say, I'm scared of marketing because of how little I've done it. But that's no excuse not to try, so here we are.

Over the last two years, I've been quietly (and sometimes not so quietly) trying my hand at a new startup to help GovCon proposal teams manage their processes better. After a few other attempts at selling software to GovCons, this was a hobby project to see if I could dust off my old programming skills and build something entirely by myself, as a "solopreneur". It got some legs when I ran a closed beta with some big name companies, and then sadly, frustratingly, maddeningly, just as things were starting to take off, it all had to take a back seat to complicated life events and circumstances beyond my control.

Now, a year later, I'm clearing my 2026 schedule and putting my focus on this full-time: sink or swim, this is it. For all the marbles. Once and for all. You get the idea.

So what's the plan?

During that beta test I got a bunch of really good feedback about ways to improve the platform (e.g. visual design updates, tool tweaks, new features…). I also have a backlog of things I have to build before the system is ready for customers: stuff like a proper sign up workflow, credit card payments, that kind of thing.

So, while the core system is already done, I'll be building all these features and posting content along the way as part of a "build in public" campaign of sorts. When stuff breaks, you'll know. When I spend three hours stuck on a query only to discover it was missing a dot or a semicolon (not that THAT's ever happened…), you'll know. I'll also be writing and making videos about proposal stuff to share insights and lessons from my 15 years in the GovCon space.

Put it all together, and what's it spell?

Busy. It spells busy.

At least I won't be bored…

Emails are way easier.

Want these sent to your email? Of course you do, they're delightful.
